Role: Lead Designer, Designer, Performer
Duration: 2013-2017
“The Game” is a street theatre game that runs for the duration of the Woodford Folk Festival. The Game consists three levels of gameplay for patrons of the festival to participate in for the duration of the week. While the specifics of the design of The Game changes from year to year, the core design always focuses on facilitating fun, childlike play between patrons, and to allow people to interact with the Festival in new ways.
I was a part of Folly Games designing for The Game from 2013 to 2017.
The Games design often has story driven questing in the style of a choose your own adventure, where players are given tasks by characters in the game, and progress through pre-written modules that generally gain the loyalty of the in world characters that help the players in the grand finale. There is also a large amount of free form theatre sport style activities, where characters give players tasks designed to interact with strangers in a safe and playful way.
